Badwater for Good Water
Badwater for Good Water Walk III-- an extreme event to highlight an extreme cause!
One group of young people and adult leaders conducted a 12-mile walk-a-thon in Death Valley National Park to raise awareness of the fact that women and children in many rural parts of sub-Saharan Africa must walk that distance daily to fetch water for their families. It was an extreme event to highlight an extreme cause!
They began their trek at Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the western hemisphere. During their walk, temperatures soared to 113 degrees - while a bit cooler than previous walk-a-thons, for the first time, students also had to endure constant sandy winds. But this group continuously encouraged each other and together, with our incredible support team, they made it all 12 miles!
If you'd like to show your support for this cause, you can give clean water today. Just $1 can provide clean water for 1 African for 1 year! $79 can provide a family clean water for a lifetime (learn more)! And $500 can repair a hand pump, giving water to an entire community! 100% of the funds raised will go directly to clean water projects.
