Christmas in San Joaquin

4others hosted a free community-wide Christmas party in San Joaquin, a small rurual community in Fresno County (the Metropolitan Statistical Area with the 2nd highest rate of food hardship in the nation). The event, held at the Veterans Memorial Hall, provided a festive Christmas meal for 725 residents. Gifts were also distributed to 500 children. 4others would like to thank Jean Raven (The Salvation Army) and the staff of The City of San Joaquin for their outstanding support and hospitality.

Community BBQ & Kid's Day in San Joaquin

This event, held at Veterans Memorial Hall, was conducted in partnership with the City of San Joaquin and the Salvation Army of San Joaquin. The day began with fun Kids' Day carnival games and face painting where hundreds of children played games for prizes. Parents also had the opportunity to receive new and like-new children's clothing, a service provided by Angel Bear Closet (ABC). Afterwards, families enjoyed a sit-down meal of pollo asado, tortillas, corn-on-the-cob, and ranchero beans. This meal was provided to 750 residents!

This event was held at Pentecostal Church of God, in Mendota, CA. At that time, according to the California Employment Development Department (EDD), the unemployment rate in Mendota had reached 41%, making it one of the highest in the nation.
On August 14, 2010, 4others returned to Mendota to provide a BBQ meal for the community, in addition to a Kid's Day event for the children of Mendota. This event included a variety of carnival games, activities and prizes for children ages 12 and under.
